Outfit Post: Nostalgia

All that inspiration… well, it inspired me.

Yep, went to work looking like the 90’s threw up on me.

However, this is not something I would have worn in the 90s.  Sure, I was a teen and should have been wearing fun stuff like this but I didn’t experiment with clothes much when I was a kid.  In fact I spent most of my time looking like I a robbed a homeless person (stuff was usually big enough to hide in).  I had some self confidence/self esteem problems back then.  But that’s part of what makes blogging fun, it’s like having my own redo button.  And right now I feel like redoing 94 or so.  If I start gunning for the 80’s and going on nostalgically about big hair, ya’ll pump the breaks for me, kay.

Inspiration: 90s

I need to make a correction.  While horror always has been and always will be my passion, it wasn't all I watched as a kid.  And now that I'm thinking about it, can we bring some 90's awesome back?  Like Rayanne's hair

And Alyssa's sweet t-shirt

and Debra's rockin' pants/Corey's badass skirt/Gina's sexy cardigan

Also I'd like more screenshots from the movie Go 'cause I'm pretty sure there were some great outfits and stuff in that flick.  You can also find Timothy Olyphant shirtless in that movie

as well as many other places on the internet.  Like here for instance:

And I'm officially distracted....

Music Monday: Watching Reruns

I think that an on point soundtrack is vital to a compelling TV show.  Talented actors invoke emotion but combining the right song with a powerful performance makes it worth turning the TV on.  I may be partial since it’s one of my favorite shows but I think Criminal Minds is tops for soundtrack.  The selections are never overpowering and always crucial to the emotion that’s being conveyed.  Last night I rewatched (I think I’ve rewatched the entire series three or four times at this point. Fan Girl) the episode “Penelope” from season three and now the two key songs are on today’s playlist.

This track played when technical analyst Garcia “battled” technical analyst Kevin Lynch (Nicholas Brendon aka Xander if you worship at the altar of Joss Whedon like I do).  Two people with chemistry clicking through their computer screens sparking through the television screen.  Perfect.

In light of the story of Garcia’s near death experience this track is epic.  Also I’ve always loved the Wallflower’s cover.  In fact, I never knew it was a cover.

Gratuitous Cat

Ever getting that feeling that something isn't quite right?  Like when your washing the dishes and glance up at the window to see this

I don't remember leaving a tail there...

Shopping: Bribery

I'm having quite the hard time getting motivated to go to the gym lately.  I don't know if it's the heat or stress or what but lately when gym time rolls around the little devil on my shoulder starts pleading a pretty good case.  Convincing that one is.  So I've decided I need some motivation.  Motivation in the form of a pretty dress.

Five days a week for two weeks.  Ten days of hitting the gym or hitting the streets and that lovely will be mine.  Now I just gotta shut the little guy with the horns up.

Music Monday: Fried

Sometimes my brain feels fried after the weekend.  Maybe I've had too much weekend.  And by weekend I mean shenanigans, high jinks, and even follies.   It's so fried, in fact, I can't even handle lyrics.  Take it away Beethoven.

Inspiration: Ian Poulter

There I am at the gym, doing the tredmill thing when (thanks to the suspended big screens) suddenly golf becomes interesting for the first time ever because of this guy:

He's Ian Poulter and he obviously he's made of awesome.  Seriously, do you see those pants.  Apparently he's known in the golfing world for his eccentric style.  His style was inspired by his mom, who ran a Dorothy Perkins (oh the money I could drop in Dorothy Perkins.  I want this, this, this, and this!).  Poulter even has his very own clothing line.  Sadly, it's for dudes only.
