Shopping: Must Have

I yearn.  I pine.  I lust.  I do other things that imply how badly I want to see these boots in my closet this fall.

They’d look good traipsing around London right?

Outfit Post: Sunny and Bright

I decided this lemon yellow color would be great for the scorching hot summer.  Little did I realize when I got it on super clearance that the collar would be super tricky to iron.

I think I managed ok.  No cats or husbands were burned in the process

And it provided the perfect backdrop for my new jewelry creation.

Music Monday: Chill

I find that most bands only have a few songs I like.  There are few bands that have a lot of stuff I like.  These rare, shining unicorn bands make me so incredibly happy.  There’s few things as satisfying setting the Ipod on one band and letting it play all day.  Jack’s Mannequin is one of those bands.

The hook on this track gets stuck in my head all day.

It’s the first line of this one that reeled me in.  It’s like a snapshot of the singer’s memory.

Nothing like cheeky, cheery vulgarity.  Yep, I’m a sucker for well placed curses.

Gotta Get Out of Here

River Island Union Jack T-Shirt  $24.86 via ASOS

I know you’re not supposed to wear a band tshirt to a concert but can you rock a Union Jack tshirt while capering about in London?  Why do I ask?  I bet you already guessed.  Gonna tell you anyway.  This lucky duck may get to take a little trip out of the continental US.  One of my closest pals is taking a very important life step and offered me a chance to come provide some moral support while she does so (curious about awesome pal? Check her out).  And of course after all the grown up stuff is accomplished I’ve been assured there will be touristy fun and possibly karaoke.  So. Freaking. Stoked.

Granted, this isn’t a for sure yet.  I’ve got the boy about 87% on board (I’ve promised to sell shoes.  If that’s not a sign of dedication to the cause I don’t know what would be) but there’s some work/funding matters that have to be resolved before I’ll know for sure.  Fingers crossed for me!

Music Monday: Speaking of Silence

I’m on a covers kick again.  Mix that with my undying love of Depeche Mode and you’ve got me bouncing around after too many beers yelling about most epic cover ever:

Saying that I was delighted to find that one would be a gross understatement.

And then my buddy directed me to this one:

Her voice is lovely but it didn’t inspire the rapture in me that the Breaking Benjamin one did.

Of course the original wins every time:

Silence is Golden

Ya’ll ever not have anything to say?  It’s kind of a foreign feeling for me but that’s where I’ve been lately.  Nothing is really going on.  I’m not finding myself terribly inspired by anything.  I’m just here droning on with work and workouts and life and trying to not die from this stupid oppressive heat (seriously, why am I still living in Louisiana?!?! And then I ate some crawfish… never mind).  Maybe some changes are in order.  Perhaps something new and potentially exciting.  I’ll let ya’ll know when I figure it out.

 For now… gratuitous cat:

Looks good in pink

Music Monday: Let’s Hear it for the Girl

Let’s ignore that horrible play on the title, shall we? (If you’re like wth, this should clear that up.) It got stuck in my head and I couldn't not use it.  I’m feeling some chick tunes today.  Real chick tunes from back in the day.  Now, don’t get me wrong there are plenty of ladies doing interesting things in music today but it seems rather overran with bubblegum pop (and a serious lack of pants).  I like my lady music with a little more grit.

I love the cheeky message in this one.  It’s like sure maybe I did some stuff… maybe I did some stuff with a hot biker boy behind the bar one night… but I didn’t say shit about it so how you gonna prove it?  She even spend half the video smirking.  Love it.

I knew all the lyrics to Angry Johnny when I was about 14.  I felt cool and indie rocking out.

Although most of McLachlan’s music was fairly light, this one always felt darker and heavier to me.  Which makes sense considering the influences.

Failure Was An Option

Remember how I had a plan to get my workouts back in line and get myself a pretty new dress?  Didn't work out for me.  I may have skipped working out to go eat carnival food at a local festival while my nephews ran around trying to scheme on girls.  But look, pretty pictures!
